Fiji may have more than 300 islands, but you don’t really need to leave the main island of Viti Levu – let alone the Coral Coast – to experience the best of this South Pacific nation.

Beaches, reefs, villages, idyllic resorts and jungle-surrounded waterfalls can be found along the scenic stretch of the island’s west coast, offering something for just about everyone who ventures past the resorts of Denarau Island seeking adventure.
And Exploretravel.com.au, working with our partners over at book.exploretravel.com.au, have come up with a special package that means you can enjoy all that Fiji has to offer at a very special price.
Here’s what you can do on the Isles of Smiles:
Families
There’s a resort for everyone in Fiji, and families are certainly no exception. With a host of organised kids activities, plenty of pools to splash around in and endless kid-friendly excursions to go on, parents need not worry about their brood getting bored.
If you’re looking for a bit of down time, nanny services abound at resorts across Fiji. For example, Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort’s Meimei nanny service can organise a full day’s activities for kids six months to 12 years old. They can even learn about local culture with language lessons and arts and crafts.
What to do as a family:
It’s called the Coral Coast for a good reason. Snorkelling can be done offshore from just about any resort’s beach and most hotels will provide snorkel gear for free or at a reasonable price. This makes it a great budget-friendly activity as we know travelling as a group can be expensive.
Travelling inland, a kid-friendly way to explore the other side of Fiji, Kula WILD Adventure Park has water slides, zip rails, marine displays, forest walks and the chance to meet birds and other local wildlife.

Couples
If you’re after a don’t-lift-a-finger island escape, Fiji can certainly deliver.
The range of accommodations along more than an 80km stretch of the coral coast is vast, from cosy homestays to sprawling, luxury resorts with just about every amenity under the sun.
With indulgent spas, award-winning restaurants and colourful reefs right off the beach, it can sometimes be hard to even leave the property.
What to do as a couple:
Experience one of the most scenic treatments around at Bebe Spa. Ranked as the best spa in the area on TripAdvisor, it sits atop a hill at the Outrigger with panoramic views of the coast.
You can also opt to escape to a desert island for the ultimate retreat. Of course, if your budget doesn’t permit that, you can still get the experience – with a twist. A day trip to a small island like South Sea, Beachcomber or the Malamala Beach Club can give you the taste of tiny, tropical isle life.

Solo travellers
While the idyllic Yasawa Islands are usually the go-to for solo travellers in Fiji, the mainland offers plenty for single explorers that the islands don’t – especially if you’re on a tighter budget.
Many of the islands enforce a mandatory meal plan, which does showcase Fiji’s mouth-watering local cuisine, but unfortunately can cost more than your accommodation.
You won’t find it at most resorts on Viti Levu.
It’s the norm for resorts to conveniently include breakfast in your room stay, offering you the chance to try out some of the coast’s local restaurants for lunch or dinner.
What to do as a solo traveller:
Explore the waterfalls in local villages, like Biausevu, where you’ll have the chance to meet a local guide who can take you on a scenic walk through the jungle to a tumbling cascade and natural swimming pool.
Go scuba diving at some of Fiji’s most iconic dive sites, like the Beqa Lagoon, renown for the number of sharks swimming its waters. Since the majority of divers can’t go without a guide, booking yourself in as a single traveller doesn’t set you back.
