Spectacular southern lights have graced different parts of Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania over the past few weeks, but it is the northern lights that are the most sought after bucket-list experience, according to a new report from Expedia. More than half of Australians (or 57 per cent) are keen to witness the aurora borealis during the upcoming northern winter season, the report found, with Lapland in Finland, Churchill in Canada, Narvik in Norway, Kalfafell in Iceland, Abisko in Sweden and Isle of Skye in Scotland appearing on the list of top trending locations.
